who's the weirdo with the camera?

Howdy, kiddos! I'm a soil-under-my-nails, paint-in-my-eyebrows kinda broad who believes strongly in living my most authentic life and documenting yours.

To me, there is glory and beauty to be had in mess. That can mean a multitude of things—puttering around the kitchen, inevitably getting flour where flour is not supposed to be, or trying not to snicker too loud as my one (or both) of my birds get tangled in my wife’s salt and pepper curls. It's impossible not to hone in on anything that breaks down facades, thereby revealing our truest selves.

That headspace helps me preserve the momentous and the in life through photography. Without fail, the best photos happen with the knowing smiles and loving glances flashed between staged portraits. Every. Single. Time. After all, what is real art if not authentic?

Raised in my mother and grandmother's dual art studios, their students became my extended family. It was as true for me then as it is now—community and creative expression are deeply intertwined, because great art can’t happen in a vacuum. The more we engage with each other—whether between artist and subject or artist to artist—the better it is for our final product. Sometimes that's bombastic and hurried, when we're taken by the moment. Sometimes it requires the stillness needed to notice the play of a soft breeze across a swath of grass.

All of this is to tip my hat and say: Pleasure to meet ya. Now let's get our hands dirty and create something unforgettable.
